Platform Guide
Microsoft Teams
Microsoft Teams is standard at enterprise companies and many consulting firms. Amigo works with both the classic Teams desktop client and the new Teams (2024+). Stealth Mode is fully effective with all Teams screen-sharing methods.
Setup
- Install the Amigo desktop app — see the Installation guide.
- On macOS, grant Accessibility and Screen Recording permissions in System Settings → Privacy & Security.
- Open Amigo and sign in with your Amigo account. The system readiness check will run automatically. Check your audio device in Settings → Audio if needed.
- Download and install Microsoft Teams if not already installed (Teams web app also works — see below).
- Launch Amigo first, then open Teams and join your meeting.
On Windows, if Teams is running as a work or school account with company-managed device policies, the IT policy may restrict which applications can run alongside Teams. Check with your interviewer's company if you are connecting from a corporate-managed machine.
Screen Sharing in Teams
Teams offers several sharing modes, all compatible with Amigo's Stealth Mode:
- Desktop — Your full desktop is shared, but Amigo's overlay is excluded by the OS. The interviewer sees your desktop without the Amigo panel.
- Window — Only the selected application window is shared. Amigo is never in scope.
- PowerPoint Live — Presentation mode; your screen is not shared. Amigo works normally in the background.
- Whiteboard — Uses Teams' built-in whiteboard; Amigo is not captured.
Using Teams in a Browser
If you join a Teams meeting via the web app (teams.microsoft.com) instead of the desktop client, Amigo still works. Browser-based Teams uses the same system audio path that Amigo taps into.
- Chrome and Edge are recommended. Firefox has limited support for Teams web features.
- Screen sharing from a browser tab is isolated to that tab — Amigo is not captured.
- Audio quality may be slightly lower in the web app compared to the desktop client.
Known Issues
- Teams background noise suppression — Teams applies aggressive noise cancellation by default. If transcription quality is poor, go to Teams Settings → Devices → Noise suppression and set it to Low or Off.
- macOS: Teams audio routing — Some macOS versions route Teams audio through a virtual device. If Amigo isn't capturing audio during a Teams call, go to Settings → Audio and select "Microsoft Teams Audio" as the monitored device.
- New Teams on Windows 11 — The new Teams client (2024+) is fully supported. No additional steps required.
Teams' "Record this meeting" feature records the call audio server-side and creates a transcript via Microsoft's AI. This is separate from Amigo — neither affects the other.
